Shyama Perera is a writer and broadcaster. As a critic she reviews newspapers for the BBC, theatre for mytheatremates.com and TV for the Radio Times. She is a regular commentator on radio and TV and the author of three novels and a lightweight history of contraception.

Shyama is Chair of the South Asian Diaspora Arts Archive housed at Birmingham Museum and Gallery, and a Fellow of the Royal Literary Fund. Away from her screen, she moderates public events, researching and structuring lively specialist debates across subjects and sectors.
